The best of Broadway keeps making its way to Austin, with Texas Performing Arts announcing the titles for its 2024-25 Broadway in Austin season at the Bass Concert Hall. The schedule is filled with beloved classics like Hamilton and Funny Girl, and red hot new smashes like MJ and Shucked.

It's time to pull back the curtain on Broadway in Austin's 2024/20-25 season! Bob Bursey, Executive and Artistic Director of Texas Performing Arts, joined Trevor Scott and Chelsey Khan to tell We Are Austin about the award-winning shows that will take the stage at Bass Concert Hall.

A record nine major touring shows will light up Bass Concert Hall during the next season of Broadway in Austin. The mix includes the movie-to-stage musical, Moulin Rouge! and the Michael Jackson-themed show, MJ. Add to them fresh runs for two all-time favorites, Hamilton and Les Miserables, as well as recent winners from the Great White Way, such as the first major revival of Funny Girl, and the corn-fed laugh fest known as Shucked.

On March 5 Texas Performing Arts (TPA) announced nine shows coming in the 2024-25 season to near-constant applause, gasps, and even screams of delight. The most dramatic audience reaction was to the announcement that Hamilton would be returning, but Les Misérables and Moulin Rouge! 

The musical, which follows witches Glinda and Elphaba in a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, will show at Bass Concert Hall March 13-31.

Interview with Matthew Rushing, Associate Artistic Director, on how Ailey’s Texas roots were central to his work. The company has several stops in the Lone Star State in 2024, starting with Bass Concert Hall on Mar 2 & 3.

The famous fringe performing arts event Fusebox Festival is returning to Austin from April 7-14 for a monumental celebration, including three not-to-miss projects part of the TPA x Fusebox partnership. 

Celebrating Black History Month and exploring aging and health disparities for black women, The Black Feminist Guide to the Human Body, a new play from TPA resident artist Lisa B. Thompson will have its rolling world premiere at The Vortex in April.
