When I first heard, in early 2016, that an adaptation of Harper Lee’s benchmark novel To Kill a Mockingbird was heading for the Broadway stage, it did not take much convincing to know that the play would be brilliant. They had me at Sorkin.

Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin, who penned films like A Few Good Men, Moneyball, and The Social Network also wrote the critically acclaimed stage adaptation of Harper Lee's iconic To Kill A Mockingbird. Texas Performing Arts welcomes the national tour of the play at Bass Concert Hall this week.

Summer Stock Austin, working with Texas Performing Arts, presents The Wizard of Oz from July 22 through Aug 6 and Grease which plays July 28 - Aug 6, both at the McCullough Theatre on the UT campus.

Winners Kyra Carr from Hendrickson High School and Langston Lee from Rouse High School will go on to represent Austin, Texas at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (more commonly known as the Jimmy Awards) in NYC, thanks to Texas Performing Arts.
