FAQ – Plan Your Visit

• Do I need to arrive before my ticket entry time?

  Yes. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your ticket’s entry time to park and arrive at the entrance.

• What happens if I arrive late?

  If you arrive late, check in with the ticket attendant. We’ll do our best to accommodate you at the next available time slot, but we can’t guarantee it.

• Is the exhibition accessible?

  The path is accessible for wheelchairs, rollators, and walkers. Guests are encouraged to bring any necessary mobility aids. Please note that the uneven surfaces may be challenging for some patrons using mobility aids. Wheelchairs are not available for loan. Call 512.471.2787 for assistance or email us.

• Are there any concerns for guests with sensory sensitivities?

  This multisensory experience includes changes in light levels, bright colors, flashing lights, and music.

• Where are the restrooms?

  Restrooms are located at the entrance and on the trail.Restrooms are located at the entrance and on the trail. Accessible restrooms are available on the trail between map items (18) Oogie Boogie and (19) Jack & Sally.

• Will food and drinks be available for purchase?

  Yes. Light snacks and drinks are available for purchase. Outside food and beverages are not allowed.

• What should I wear?

  The trail is outdoors, so we recommend checking the weather for your ticket date and dressing accordingly. Comfortable walking shoes (and layers during colder weather) are encouraged. Upon leaving, you won’t be able to re-enter.

• Can I dress up?

  Yes, we encourage you to dress up to create a more memorable experience. Costumes are allowed with the following restrictions:

  • Full-face masks are not allowed. You must maintain an unobstructed vision at all times and not need to remove any part of your costume to see.
  • Armor cannot pose a threat to others by way of sharpened metal edges, spikes, or bladed surfaces.
  • Prop weapons and prop firearms will be allowed, provided they are fabricated of foam or cardboard only. The barrels of all prop firearms must be covered with brightly-colored caps. The following are prohibited:
  • Bladed weapons, metal, wood, fiberglass, PVC, glass, air guns, and cap guns.
• Can I bring a bag?

  Large bags are not permitted, and lockers are not available. However, smaller bags are allowed and are subject to search upon entry.

• Can I bring my pet?

  Service animals are permitted. Pets are not allowed anywhere, including the parking lot. Please do not leave your pet in your vehicle.

• Can I smoke on site?

  Smoking, tobacco use, and e-cigarettes are not allowed.

• What isn't allowed?
  • There are no refunds or exchanges.
  • There is no re-entry.
  • Please do not leave the trail as it’s dark and the space is shared with wild animals. Please be aware of your surroundings.
  • No smoking, tobacco use, or e-cigarettes allowed.
  • No outside alcohol is allowed.
  • Please do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
  • No bicycles or scooters are allowed in the exhibition.
  • No balloons, confetti, glitter, or handheld signage is allowed.
  • Drones are not allowed (policy and permit info).
  • All visitors are required to wear a shirt and shoes at all times.
  • The exhibit closes at 11 p.m., and you must exit the Wildflower Center grounds.
  • The open carry of a gun is not permitted at the Wildflower Center. As part of The University of Texas at Austin, the Wildflower Center is subject to Senate Bill 11 (Concealed Campus Carry). Please view the Wildflower Center’s policies.
• There are storms in the forecast – will the exhibition close?

  The experience will be open rain or shine, as long as the weather poses no threat to public safety. If the experience is canceled due to unsafe weather, Texas Performing Arts will send an email to the ticket purchaser with instructions. Please call the Inclement Weather line to check on cancelations: 512-471-2787.

• What happens if I have an emergency or need to leave during an experience?

  The event staff will be present throughout the experience and are available to help.

• What if I lost something at the exhibit?

• What should I expect from the exhibition?

  Inspired by the timeless 1993 Disney film Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, this immersive nighttime experience transports visitors to the magical worlds of Halloween Town and Christmas Town with captivating scenes, music, and visuals. 

• What is the recommended age?

  The experience is designed for all ages.

• How long does it last?

  The walking trail lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour. It is a natural setting with changing elevations, so please watch your step. Benches are available along the trails. Once inside, you’re free to explore by following the one-way path. Upon leaving, you won’t be able to re-enter. Be prepared for an outdoor experience and dress accordingly. Wear comfortable shoes!

• Should I bring a stroller or walker?

  The path is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, rollators, and walkers. Guests are encouraged to bring strollers for children and any necessary mobility aids. Please note that the uneven surfaces may be challenging for some patrons using mobility aids. Wheelchairs are not available for loan. • Can I take photos?

  The experience was created to bring you up close to some of the movie’s favorite characters and scenes. The trail is designed to offer various opportunities for you to capture each special moment. Tripods, drones, selfie sticks, and professional camera equipment are strictly prohibited.

• How close can I get to the sculptures?

  Visitors can get very close to each character and scene. It is mandatory to follow the one-way pathway, and entering restricted areas or touching the sculptures is prohibited.

• Do I need to know the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas to enjoy the experience?

  The experience is fun for everyone, but fans of The Nightmare Before Christmas will feel like they’re in Halloween Town’s very own paradise!

• Will there be photo or film recordings on site?

  During your visit, you may be filmed, photographed, or recorded by Texas Performing Arts or the production responsible for the exhibition. By entering, you authorize the use of your image by these entities.

• How can I guarantee my ticket?

• What age are the children's discounted timed tickets for?

  Children ages 2-12

• Can I buy a ticket for the exhibition and arrive earlier to visit the Wildflower Center?

  These are different tickets. A Wildflower Center ticket is required to visit their scenic gardens and trails. Their fall hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., with garden entry ending at 4 p.m.

• Do I need a Wildflower Center ticket to access the exhibition?

  No. The exhibition is only accessible with event tickets, for either a scheduled time slot or a flexible entry ticket for a designated exhibit day.
