School Day Performances 

Overview of Program

Texas Performing Arts has centered educational programing in tandem with our season for over 30 years. Students and teachers from public, private and charter schools as well as homeschool groups across Central Texas and beyond are invited to attend School Day Performances in our theaters throughout the school year. These daytime performances by regional, national and international artists represent a variety of arts disciplines as we welcome learners of all ages to experience live performing arts, many for the first time.

Texas Performing Arts provides TEKS-aligned learning materials for classroom connections to prepare students in advance of each performance.

Information about School Day Performances is sent out to Central Texas School Districts and individuals who have signed up for our Texas Performing Arts Education mailing list. For more information, please contact the Education & Engagement Team.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, participating schools are offered admission to these performances at a highly reduced cost, including several free performances. School Day Performances are often times in high demand and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Support for TPA School Day Performances is provided by H-E-B Tournament of Champions, the William & Anita Cochran Endowment for Performing Arts Access & Education, the Kathy Panoff Texas Performing Arts Student Engagement Endowment, the Joann and Gaylord Jentz Endowment for Student Engagement, the Alex and Dee Massad Endowment Fund, Applied Materials Foundation, and Kristin & Joshua Alexander.

SCHOOL DAY PERFORMANCES FAQ

  • Complete seat reservation form [starting August 1]
    • School Day Performances are often in high demand and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. If more than one class from your school is attending, we recommend you making one combined reservation for your school. For free events, your reservation is automatically confirmed when you submit unless the performance you select has a waitlist. For paid events, your reservation will be confirmed upon payment in full.
  • Approximately 4-6 weeks before the show, you will receive a message from an Education & Engagement staff member to solidify the number of seats and buses (if applicable) for your group. This will include the ability to request paid parking spaces for buses and/or transportation grants and also a deadline to confirm your participation. If you fail to confirm by this deadline (either through payment or email confirmation), then your group will be removed from the event. If you have missed the deadline and still want to attend, please contact education@texasperformingarts.org. A team member may accommodate your request if space is still available.
    • Transportation Reimbursement Grants are distributed to Title I schools upon request and based on available funds.
  • Cancellations and changes to your reservation must be made at least 3 weeks in advance of the performance.
  • A TEKS-aligned learning guide will be sent approximately 3 weeks before the show to prepare students in advance of each performance.
  • Event details will be sent approximately 2-3 weeks before the show.
