The Manhattan Transfer Swings the Holidays

Presented in partnership with KLRU

Celebrate the season with this twelve-time Grammy-winning jazz vocal group, performing an evening of familiar and well-loved holiday classics. The Manhattan Transfer delivers favorites from their two Christmas CDs, An Acappella Christmas and The Christmas Album, which remain among the best-selling holiday recordings of all time.

Celebrating their 40th Anniversary in 2012, The Manhattan Transfer vocalists Cheryl Bentyne, Tim Hauser, Alan Paul, and Janis Siegel are well respected throughout the jazz world as well as the mainstream music community. The platinum-selling ensemble made Grammy history in 1981 by becoming the first group to win Grammys simultaneously in both the jazz and pop categories. The group’s 1985 release Vocalese received 12 Grammy Award nominations, second only to Michael Jackson’s Thriller at the time. Don’t miss this swingin’ holiday performance at Bass Concert Hall!

“The most enduringly creative vocal group in jazz history.”
