Live Under the Big Top featuring Swimming with Bears

Join Campus Events + Entertainment and Texas Performing Arts for Live Under the Big Top. We're taking advantage of the Texas Big Top tent on the Bass Concert Hall Plaza to help bring live music back to the 40 Acres. The feature act for this inaugural show is Austin locals Swimming with Bears! The FREE socially distanced concert taping will take place on Wednesday, October 7 in front of a live student audience and footage of the performance along with an artist interview will be streamed online Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

PLEASE NOTE: Masks are required for staff and attendees at all times and distanced seating will allow for 10ft spacing between seats. You must RSVP in advance for the performance at texasperformingarts.org to attend as event capacity is strictly limited. Sanitization stations will be available at all entrances, under the tent, and inside the Bass Concert Hall restrooms.

Students will present their e-ticket beginning at 6:30 pm and TPA staff will assign their seat. The concert begins at 7 pm.

About the Band
Swimming with Bears consist of Joe Perry (lead vocals/bass), Jon Kerr (guitar/vocals), Dave O'Farrell (lead guitar), and Ryan Hannasch (drums/vocals). On their new self-titled EP, Swimming with Bears deliver a batch of five songs that showcase their next chapter as a band: Truth and Escapism. But beneath the vulnerability and personal lyrics are upbeat and fun tracks that everyone can relate to. It marks a period of major growth for the band, who spent the better part of last year honing their craft in the writing room as well as on tour. In bringing the new EP to life, they worked closely with producer Ryan Hadlock (produced for Lumineers, Vance Joy, and Brandi Carlile), immersing themselves in a more thorough recording process than they ever attempted before.
